How EFCC raided ex VP's offices in Abuja

Immediate past Nigeria Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo, has said that the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) broke through the doors of his Abuja office and catered away his company's documents.

The ex-Vice President told Pulse through his spokesman,Umar Sani, that the EFCC operatives stormed the office on Saturday without legal entrance and chartered away his company's documents kept in a 'Ghana Must Go' bag, thinking it was cash.

Pulse gathered that the raid was carried out four days after the former Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo left Abuja for Europe. Mohammed Namadi Sambo has had a leg surgery outside Nigeria shortly after their government handed over power to President Muhammadu Buhari, but he returned to the country in November. 

His spokesman, Umar Sani, who described the operation carry out by the EFCC operatives as 'fruitless,' said the EFCC have been silent about the raid until the Vice President Lawyers wrote to them.

"They went to his office on Saturday and took away a Ghana Must Go bag with documents and though it was money.

Since Saturday, the EFCC officials were silent about it until the Former Vice President Lawyers wrote to them on why document of his 'Manyata,' office in Abuja were taken way," Sani said. He said a cash of N50,000 was also catered away by the EFCC officials.

"The former VP travelled on 25 Jan 2016 and the operatives stormed his office four days after he left. They saw the Gana Must Go bag and thought it was money.

The EFCC took an illegal operation and were disappointed because since on Saturday when they carry out the operation unlike their usual dealings after operation you see it in the news, they did not get what they wanted in the office of the former Vice President and they did not dish out the information about the raid to the media until his lawyers wrote to them on Monday," Sani added.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reach as at the time of filling this report. His mobile phone number was switch off. The EFCC had reportedly raided the Manyata office of the former Vice President, Namadi Sambo in Abuja on Saturday.
