Four oil workers have been kidnapped in Edo

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted four workers of an oil company along Benin-Akure express road.
The oil workers were said to be going for a training programme in a neighbouring state when they were accosted by the gunmen and were forcefully taken into the forest along the relatively lonely road.
It was gathered that the driver of the vehicle was shot by the gunmen while another female managed to escape.
It would be recalled that just last week, operatives of the Edo state police command intercepted and arrested some boys within that axis with four AK 47 rifles.
Following recent rise in cases of abductions on the road, a combined team of policemen and men of the directorate of state security (DSS), has been combing the bush in search of the kidnappers.
Edo police spokesman, Osifo Abiodun, who confirmed the abduction of the oil workers, said the police was on top of the situation.
He added that a detachment of police personnel has been deployed to the area with a mandate to rescue the victims.
