President Muhammadu Buhari is reported to have revealed that he’s not too inclined to give out the N5,000 monthly stipend promised by his party- the All Progressives Congress, during the last general election campaign.
Buhari said he has a different priority other than paying the N5,000 to the vulnerable and unemployed Nigerians.
The President was quoted to have made the remark while speaking in Saudi Arabia over the weekend.
Buhari said he would prefer to use the money to develop mining, agriculture and create employment for people to earn the money.
He said: “This largesse N5,000 for the unemployed, I have got a slightly different priority. I would rather do the infrastructure, the school and correct them and empower agriculture, mining so that every able bodied person can go and get work instead of giving 5,000, N5,000 to those who don’t work.”
